The holidays are over, it’s 2018 and we’re all probably going to die in a nuclear apocalypse but, on the bright side, digital board gaming just wrapped up its best year ever. Will 2018 come close to 2017’s grandeur? Unless we get a surprise release of Through the Ages 2: Electric Boogaloo, probably not, but there are reasons to be optimistic about digital board gaming this year beginning with Acram Digital.

Acram Digital are the devs behind the two digital cardboard standouts, Steam: Rails to Riches and Eight-Minute Empire. Earlier today they tweeted this:

What does it mean? Only Acram knows, but we can waste our day guessing, can’t we? Here’s hoping it’s another Martin Wallace game, preferably Automobile. Oh wait, we also received a press release in addition to the tweet. It says that the game in question has been in the works for a while now and that the object of the game is to “…become rich…running from one place to another on the board.” Probably not Automobile, then. Any ideas? [the laziest form of writing, make the audience do all the work -ed.]

I’ll hit up my contacts at Acram to try and wring some hints out of them, but I wouldn’t hold your breath. Hopefully they make a full announcement soon and we can start to see how 2018 will shape up on the digital board game front.

Sounds like Monopoly to me.
