HexWar released 1775: Rebellion last year to much fanfare, only to have the initial release be received less than warmly. Since Matt’s review, the game has undergone several updates fixing many of the issues brought up in the review. They’re not done, either. They’re planning another major update that will not only fix bugs and improve the app, it will also introduce a brand new scenario created by the game’s original designers.

The new scenario is a Southern Theater scenario and will focus on the latter portion of the American Revolutionary War, specifically what’s happening in the south and Yorktown.

Southern Theatre Scenario The year is 1781. The British have taken control of Savannah and Charles Town, scattering the American Continental in the area army. The rest of the American forces chase the native americans out of the Tennessee area (western NC). A large force of British regulars and Hessian units, commanded by Cornwallis sweep through Virginia waiting on commands to take York (Yorktown). Marquis de Lafayette and his French soldiers are aiding the Americans gather force in Virginia to try to pin down the British and wait for the French fleets to arrive to contest the seas.

Map is constrained to Colonies south of the New York southern border. (Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia)

The new content will be available for free for PC/Mac users, but will probably be available as an IAP on the mobile version.

That’s not all, though. They’ve been talking to 1775: Rebellion experts at Academy Games and are using their wisdom to tweak the AI and make it a more worthy opponent. There’s no release date for when the update will go live, but we’ll make sure to let you know when it does.
