I miss Micro Machines. Maybe it is just nostalgia but I remember some cool models. I didn’t know they did WWII aircraft and would buy so many of those if packs were available at MSRP.
If you’re talking 20+ planes, you’re going to need one of those dual-layer battlefields with the transparent plastic for aircraft.
Haven’t been into micro machines when I was young.
But I do have some matchbox/hot wheels cars lying around. Bought the Gaslands rule book and playing some games with my kids at the kitchen table every now and then.
Haven’t modded the cars, only taped some guns to it. But fun game!
I haven’t backed a game on KS for quite a while, but I threw in for this one. At least for the time being. It’s a rather high price point, TBH, but one can always cancel before the end of the campaign. Any thoughts to convince me to do better things with my money are always appreciated : )
What’s it going to end up costing you? $100?
$100 for the “deluxe”, $130 for the “super-deluxe”. Not sure the differences add up to an extra $30… No idea what the “super deluxe with cheese” costs.
Shipping?
In this case, that will be an extra $17. This is what I mean about it being a rather high price point, IMO. The game does not have miniatures, a micro computer, or gold ingots.
Absolutely not worth it.
I would like to get involved in this conversation and offer a different voice and perspective.
I dislike kickstarter. And its not only because Im itinerant and hate updating my address.
Its mostly because I dislike investing in an untested, unreviewed product thats main draw is fomo, but also the nickel and diming that comes along with it. You want the metal embossed currency? Thats extra. The wipe clean order boards? Hope you like writing on paper, otherwise cough up.
Its horse armour. Kickstarter is letting board game devs sell horse armour.
And for that reason, Im out.
I only go for 2 things on Kickstarter:
- Board/card games from established publishers where I’m actually getting the game cheaper than it’ll be retail. (This is largely only games from Buttonshy, Thunderworks, and Garphill Games)
- Self published indie Graphic Novels and Art/Coffee Table Books from established artists/groups (Simon Stallenhag, A Profound Waste of Time)
I coincidentally, supported a kickstarter yesterday myself, which I don’t do often any more. But there is a new Dice Throne set on there, and I have all of the Dice Throne expansions.
I have no voice, perspective, or really much to add.
Other than: you best step the fuck OFF, Discourse.
Another new player, another round of Fighters of the Pacific. Definitely had a blast, and despite an early lead as the US, the Agile Japanese Zeroes once again took their toll. Not me who-
-checks notes-
-got fought to a draw by a new player though. Nosir. I did quite well maintaining my air groups this time, definitely retained height advantage more often, but even highly-fragmented Zero groups can prove deadly. I don’t think I’ve quite cracked the initiative system on this yet.
Also played a learning game of Sparta!: Struggle for Greece, and the rulebook is a fucking nightmare.
I’m watching a Dice Tower video and they are showing a game called Fairy Ring. I don’t care about the game at all, but the game uses acrylic pieces and they look really nice. I know gamers like mountains of plastic minis, and I know that painting is a hobby in and of itself, but I wouldn’t mind seeing more acrylics in games.
Yeah, I hate cardboard standees, but I can totally get behind acrylic ones.
