Why are we doomed?
I think it is good if there is money to be made, by offering a product that people are willing to pay for
The worry is that more profit will be sought by spending less on components, less on customer support (this is actually fair enough, board game companies are incredible for this, on average), pushing non-Asmodee games out of markets or sidelining them (this has happened in some cases in the US, and in some countries, the only distributor is Asmodee-owned), and otherwise doing perfectly legal but scummy things to make more money to the disadvantage of the consumer.
